                          Christine's House

                          Picture
This is the story of the first house that Primach built, written in the words of the director of Primach, Prisca Mfula.

This is Christine, a mother to two beautiful children Omega & Charles that I have also adopted on our program. The first time my husband & I met with her, we easily connected & she shared with me that she has been living with HIV/AIDS for the past two years. Her major worry has been who was going to take care of her children when she dies.

This is the house where Christine & her two children are staying. We are currently in the rain season & the roof of this house licks the walls which have serious cracks that posed a lot of danger to this family. So I resolved to undertake the project of rebuilding the entire structure from scratch.

I organized to rent temporal shelter for this family to facilitate the starting of the works. As can be seen here, we were trying to pull down the roof before breaking down the walls in readiness for a new structure.

The rear part is knocked off & measurements are taken in readiness to buy bricks and start building. Initially the idea was to just do this but later realized that the whole building was about to collapse

The entire building at this stage was completely brought down. My husband and I believed God for a complete structure even if our personal resources were so limited.

The building started with constant interruptions of rains. The work continued with my daughter giving instructions. In a small way, I thought I was emulating Nehemiah when he started building the walls of Jerusalem.

The house has now gained shape & plans to roof the house with grass were underway. Thatched roofs are always temporal but that was what we could afford at the time.

By the grace of God, the manpower and the resources came through so that we might build a roof with iron sheets.  This will last for many years, unlike the grass we thought we would have to use.
